Vaping with nicotine more common than smoking among NZ teens – new findings

New Youth19 vaping findings were released today in an academic paper led by Youth19 investigator Dr Jude Ball. The findings indicate that vaping of nicotine is common among non-smokers and among demographic groups unlikely to smoke.

• 10% of students vaped regularly (monthly or more often) and 6% vaped weekly or more often, compared with 4% and 2% respectively for tobacco smoking.

• Over 80% of ever vapers reported they were non-smokers when they tried vaping. Nearly half of regular vapers and over a third of weekly vapers had never smoked….
