Youth Mental Health Needs and Opportunities: Leveraging 25 Years of research for future solutions.
A warm welcome to a free in person seminar from the Adolescent Health Research Group
Reported symptoms of depression and anxiety have increased dramatically among youth in Aotearoa over the last decade, as in many other nations. In this talk, we will share key insights from the Youth2000 survey research over the past 25 years to demonstrate trends, priority groups and potential solutions. We will also share examples of how the Youth2000 survey series has contributed towards population level improvements in areas of youth health and discuss how we might leverage these strategies for improving youth mental health. We will include discussion regarding priorities and opportunities for improving youth mental health to reduce the lifelong human and economic impacts of mental ill-health in current contexts.
Note, Youth19 is the latest in the Youth2000 survey series, carried out by the Adolescent Health Research Group. This seminar will be presented by:
Professor Terryann Clark, Ngāpuhi, Cure Kids Chair in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, University of Auckland
Associate Professor Terry Fleming, Te Herenga Waka | Victoria University of Wellington
